Scripture: Colossians 3:12–14 (NRSV): Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. 13 Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Devotional Thought:You want grace for your mistakes but justice for theirs, don’t worry, we’ve all been there!
But Colossians tells us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. In other words, don’t just act right, be right. God’s grace doesn’t stop with you. It flows through you. Grace is unmerited favor, it means when you get the good that you don't deserve and never earned.
Emotional intelligence teaches us that people can’t meet needs they don’t know exist. So, speak up with love, lower unrealistic expectations, and let grace fill the gaps. That’s grown-up faith.
Emotional Intelligence Focus:Compassion and Expectations
Reflection Question:How would your relationships shift if you extended the same grace you expect?
Prayer:Lord, thank You for not treating me like I treat others. Help me wear grace like my favorite hoodie and love like sweet perfume that let's folks know I’ve been with You. Teach me to love people, not just tolerate them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
